Inspiration often strikes in the most unexpected places, and for me, it happened during a leisurely review of an antique book filled with exquisite English engravings (mezzotints) that I recently acquired from a charming antique shop.

As fate would have it, I inadvertently (or perhaps not) placed the book on a desk next to a delightful pile of fabrics.

It was at that moment that I realized I had stumbled upon the ultimate ingredients to recreate the ambiance of Carolina Irving's iconic NYC apartment. The vivid pomegranate red and indigo blue colors intertwined with oriental patterns of Cabana print, the slubby vintage linen, the opulent saffron yellow silk damask, and a wall adorned with 18th-century portrait engravings.
